nice shotI'd never spent any time in the mountains during the winter when I lived down there - just spring, summer and early fall. Definitely missed out.

I always take trips into the local high country in the winter. This year, it had seemed winter was passing us by. A week ago, it was in the 60s on the summit of Mt. Mitchell. This morning it was -5!

Part of the reason I missed out was because I broke my ankle in the fall, and was on crutches or in physical rehab all winter. I moved away at the end of the following summer for work. Fond memories of the area though.
