"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Point SublimeDidn't see anyone on the South Rim trail east of Artists Point. Beautiful place. Loved the little Geyser Basin to the south of the South Rim trail.

North RimAnother spot I've been returning to just about every year of my adult life. By now, I've traveled every possible route in and around the canyon and made up some of my own. It's a much more pleasurable experience during the off season, and a treat to see when draped with snow.

Pretty canyonHiked a couple of the Canyon trails...felt weird going DOWN, then up. Most of the trails were modestly crowded on a past-season weekend in October.

Worked in the park in 2010First made a visit with my Uncle the year I moved to MT in 09. Hiked to the brink of the lower falls and about killed him on the switchbacks back to the top (was in trails condition and acclimated to elevation). Worked seasonally with a trails crew in 2010 all over the park, and got to check out the Uncle Tom's trail, the brink of the upper falls, and just about all other scenic overlooks in this area. Have revisited this area every year that I've lived here and look forward to it again this week with midwest friends

Uncle Tom's TrailI first made the Uncle Tom's Trail "hike" in the summer of 1992. I returned and did it again in the summer of 1996. Great views of the falls, and also far fewer people around.

spectacularhiked all the rim trails. Walked a short distance of Mt Washburn trail but all snow. If only one could avoid the Canyon crowds (in the fall?).

South & North RimMy favorite was Uncle Tom’s Trail and the south rim trail to Artist Point. I also hiked the north rim to the Brink of the Lower Falls. There weren’t very many people there in the morning.

UnbelievableSeveral times in summer and winter to nearly every viewpoint. Jawdroppingly (word?) beautiful scenery. It doesn't grow old!

Uncle Tom's and Rim Trail. . . but a lot of the rim trail was closed. Guess I'll have to go back!

Very Many people but worth itThere was allot of people both time I went. It was an easy hike, and that's most likely why it was easy. It had great view of the waterfalls, and many many stairs that I raced my brother up!

Short hikesIt was extremely crowded so the only way to really see the falls or get away from the hordes of tourists at Yellowstone for that matter was to just hike for a mile or two. We did that on a number of trails for two days. It was not great weather though so I need to get back. This was my second time at Yellowstone - first was in 1966 as a teenager.

The views are surrealI often had to marvel that the views I saw were in fact a part of the physical landscape and not a painting. Simply breathtaking from Artist Point and Tower Falls was gorgeous as well.
