I'm that little speck at the top of the snow spine realizing we have a 8-12 foot moat gap that's at least 200 feet deep. The day before we came up to this area, climbing expert and author Craig Lubbin was killed on a similar feature on the next mountains over. He got crushed in a similar feature, and I saw this as great opportunity to learn from his mistake. That and this peak was what the guy we saw rescued by helicopter the day before fell off. The only problem was we could have summited in an hour from here, but it ended up taking most of the day to back around and lead 6 pitches through the "Eye" of the needle to summit. A most satisfying climb though.
