The Hood of Singatook

The Hood of Singatook

"Long distance runaround .. Long time ... waiting to feel the sound. I still remember the dream THERE ..." Known as "Mount Washington of the Seward Peninsula" or "3870," Mount Singatook can be photographed along the Nome-Teller Road during the short breath of each Alaskan summer. Lens clouds indicate a dramatic change in weather. It would rain a total of 3-inches here the next day. Looking for the sunshine ? Singatook catches a nasty assortment of inclement weather forming over the brewing Bering Sea to the west. Makes me want coffee ... but NOT Starbucks! July 26, 2012

Re: Excellent

Thanks, my friend.

Wish I could have spent more time there,
but I had more TIME than money.

Re: Gorgeous...

Gracie ... Gracie Silvia ...

Gasoline was over $6.00 per gallon or
$2.00 per litre ... but I wasn't complaining!

Looking Good

This photo makes me think of strawberry ice cream on a cone.

Re: That's totally unique!

I was hoping to fool everybody by calling it
a volcano, but there were no geologists around
with their instruments ...

I didn't even see Sarah Palin !!!

Glad you made it up there Larry

My wife and I spent a lot of time admiring Singatook last summer. Love that Teller road.

Re: Glad you made it up there Larry

Thanks, Chris ... the blueberries were about ready to pick, but we had to fly back to Arizona to soak up some more rays.

The skeeters remembered me from 1996 !!

We did see a moose in Anchorage ..

Baked Meringue!

My ignorance is going to show here as I had no idea these type of clouds formed at such a low altitude. This one is a beauty and I learned something new, so thank you for posting.

Re: Baked Meringue!

Excellent point! I learned of the only active
glacier in western Alaska existing on the
northeastern slope of this remote range ...

Where would we be without the learning curve?

.... we'd probably still be looking for (at ?)

'Sarah Palin ....' :- )

Like a Star Trek episode - "The Hood of Singatook." Further proof of the ancient alien theory. Great shot !!!

Re: Sounds

Actually, it was based upon the "Kia Soul" commercial where the "hamsta" brothers are
wearing their little white hoodies and makin'
things happen out on the street.

Time to get down ..
