Re: excellentThanks, Dow. I'm obviously trying to emphasis the critical components...if I could make the Danger sign blink I would :-).

Eccles Biv.Hi Michael,
I checked my guidebooks (Buscaini and Damilano) they both say the Eccels Bivy are on the SW ridge of Pic Eccles. The green spot on the photo seem to be on the SE ridge, according to the guidebooks (description and photos) the location of the Bivacs should be to the left of the green spot and somewhere in the triangle of the black arrow. I have never been there, I am just curious if the guides are also wrong (the maps definitely are).

Re: Eccles Biv.I think you are correct. I couldn't see the bivy on the photo so I was guessing a bit. I'll fix asap and reply back...

Re: Eccles Biv.I realize you are definitely correct. Because from the lower hut, you can look around the corner and see steep slopes of the Brouillard Glacier. I placed the green dot where I did because I was imagining that the open slope to the left must have been that feature, but it's not big enough, and there are no crevasses below. Also, I'm remembering on the hike up the glacier that there was a slight leftward curve just before getting on the rocks and scrambling to the Bivy. Thanks again for pointing it out! I'll edit the pic...

Re: Eccles Biv.I have attached to your Innominata route page two scans from the guidebooks (Buscaini and Damilano) that show the position of the bivac. Grab them and then I will delete the pics from SP.
I think the Biv. is about where a vertical line, starting halfway from your black arrow line, intercept the SW ridge (and NOT where I said before at the triangle) well below and left of the green dot.
I agree, from all pict I have seen it is difficult to recognize the shape of p.Eccles and its ridges, but the white snowfield left of your green dot is on p.Eccles south face between the SE and SW ridges. ciao a.

Re: New photoThanks Gabriele, that picture helped considerably. Let me try and use the correct name of the bivouac as well...
