The ledges of Monte Piano

The ledges of Monte Piano

This is the view from near Toblacher Kreuz on the northern side of Monte Piano. During the World War I, here were Austrian positions. By the ledges we see, a good path was made, in these walls, some 10 meters below the summit, in the caverns Austrians had also their headquarters. Today the path is nicely protected and not difficult (T3), but on a few places the ledges are a bit exposed. It all takes you 15 minutes to walk them, then the path descends a bit and you must again gain the lost altitude to reach the summit plateau. August 14th, 2016.

Re: Beautiful shot!

Well, the ledges were a nice change to the otherwise flat summit plateau.
