The Lumiei Gorge

Between Monte Tinisa, 2120m, and Col Gentile, 2075m, the river (creek) Lumiei cut a deep gorge. Through it the villages of Sauris (Zahre in their original, old German language) can be reached from Ampezzo in Tagliamento valley. Todays road through the gorge goes through tunnels, but it was obviously not allwas so. On this picture, taken from the dam on the artificial lake, it looks like as the rests of an old path are seen.
