"The mountains of Thor"

Spalti di Toro are the mountains of Thor, the God of thunder adored by Longobards who lived in the area around 1500 years ago. From right: Cima Cadìn di Toro, "Il Castello di Vedòrcia", Pala Grande, Guglia Jacek and Punta Pia.

Thor is again

being worshiped by adherents of the Old Norse religion in Denmark. Perhaps this could become a place of pilgrimage for them!

Re: Thor is again

Interesting, I thought it was an old myth of the german tribes lost through the centuries.
This place could be perfect for some mysterious ritual...

Re: Thor is again

No, it is very much alive (an officially reognized religion in Denmark). It was, of course, harshly repressed by the Christians for about 1000 years, but the mythology survived, and was often used as subjects for artists, much as the old Greek gods. It was also taught at school, in history lessons.
Now it has gathered enough adherents again to be recognized, so they can legally marry people etc. Somebody even wrote a book about how Norse mythology is more compatible with the world of computers, but I must admit I haven't read it.
