The original Eötvös Loránd hut
was opened in 1898 at Dobogókő, which was a remote place then - a rock in the forest. Due to its rising popularity, the second Eötvös Loránd hut
was built and opened in 1906.
Later Dobogókő became a "full-scale" mountain resort. I wonder what would the builders of the original hut say if they saw what the once quiet place has become...
(note: Baron Eötvös Loránd, the inventor of the torsion pendulum was a remarkable mountaineer, having first-climbed several peaks in the Alps.
