The lesser known Washington Monument
Many local Marylanders never venture to this state park located less than an hour from the Washington, D.C. suburbs just north of Frederick, Md.We recently spent some time exploring the area and returning to this monument. Since our last visit about seven years ago they have added the signs noting George Washington's life along the path to the actual monument.
Our timing was planned to perhaps see some of the migratory birds that bird watchers flock from far away to observe and report but no luck our day!
