The Painted Lady over a thistle flower

The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) is found on every continent except Antarctica and South America. Here it is over a thistle of the genus Carduus, plant wich is this butterfly's feed. Taken near Nerín, Huesca. 12 July 2009.

Monarch Butterfly to me, but I can't be 100% sure.

No, it's not The Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus). It's The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) but thanks for your help Marc.
