The Pershing tree

The Pershing tree

The Pershing Tree, the tallest Sequoia in the Placer County Big Trees grove, on the Foresthill Divide. This is the northern-most natural grove of Giant Sequoia in the world. It's 250 feet tall. August 2007. Ben took this wonderful photo.

Near French Meadows?

I've camped at the lake and went though Foresthill, anywhere near that general area?

Re: Near French Meadows?

Yes, this grove is right off Mosquito Ridge Road, which is the road that goes to French Meadows Reservoir. Such a beautiful area...

Totally love it

I am very much interested in the natural range limits, both latituden'ally and elevational. Are there something like 56 natural groves? Not counting the scrubbers by Fresno. Nice picture by the way, interesting subject. i am from the Seattle area and can't place the landmarks you listed--French Meadows, Foresthill Divide. Maybe you can help.
