South Sister

This is the looking at the South Sister of Twin Sisters from the North Sister. The North Sister is the highest point.
The rock to the north of the North Sister is sometimes referred to as the "Tower Summit" because there used to be a fire lookout tower there.

Re: South Sister

Check out the map here:

http://www.summitpost.org/view_object.php?object_id=11528

Now, When i look at it, there are two nearly identical summits labeled "Twin Sisters Peaks" at 11,413, 11,428. These are the two shoulder blades that stick up and have all the wires and crap going between them. They're really close together. The thing this is a picture of is the 11,376 to the south. That's the other sister? If so, I assumed that the map was labeled correctly (I have a different one at home and it labels the two 11,400s the exact same way)when it is not. The map and the labeling implies that the two knobs above 11,400 are the "peaks." Where can i find on a map that the 11,376 is the south sister, or is it just word-of-mouth-type thing?

If you are correct, i need to relabel a bunch of crap.

I know you have a ton of experience in that area. Thanks for the message.

Re: South Sister

You're not the only one who has gotten confused over this. On the map the highest point just below the "P" in Peaks is the North Sister and the South Sister is at the bottom of the map. The "Tower Summit" is the point just NW of the North Sister with a bench mark (VABM). The distinction between the North & South Sisters come from the view of the mountain from the plains. The summits I have noted are the two "Sisters" seen from the eastern plains.
I hope this is helpful ... thanks for your interest in the area. And, good job with the Pawnee Buttes Page.
Peace, Jim
