I was able to meet up with a great friend of mine who I hadn't seen in 5 years, which was the best part, and we decided to do this hike we had talked vaguely about many years ago. Now it was actually going to happen! We decided to just do the the whole thing- that is, hike the north and south beaches of Olympic National Park. It was gonna be freakin' awesome. We started by each driving about a thousand miles to get out there, then we left a truck at Oil City, headed north on the highway, and began our hike up at Ozette. We spent 5 days hiking south along the beach back to the truck and had an amazing adventure! Perfect weather. So unique- I hadn't even been to the ocean in over a decade. So many good memories made. I guess the one disappointment was that there is a 9 mile section of road walking between the two beaches, which we were hoping to score a ride on, but nobody picked us up. Cars whizzing by, not much shoulder, definitely the most dangerous part of the entire hike so I don't recommend it. Not a big deal though, we had a seriously excellent trip overall that we will remember forever. OK, I guess we missed Shi-Shi, but that will probably give us good reason to come back some day.

Coastal Coolness
Hiked up Rialto Beach yesterday with my son Evan in the fog (still very cool) and today hiked the Ozette triangle (a very wild place that kicked my butt).
