great shot!

The dusting of snow on the bands really makes it look neat! Thanks for sharing!

Re: great shot!

I go to any extremes for some color... even going in a snow storm. ;)

Re: A man who strayed into the wonder world?!

Thank You! The Wave is a cool place to photograph, but add a snow storm and it's even funner to shoot! :)

Re: wow

Thanks Tazz! The snow was falling on our heads --- so I guess that is what to shoot for if you want that effect. ;p

Re: Fabulous

Thanks. The snow adds those extra lines and color that made it a great photo day at the Wave.

and atristic. Great timing to get a kiss of snow on the waves. And, to add a person, who seems to be a little cold, into the mix makes this photo extraordinary.

Very surreal, is there any info on how this was formed? Great photo!

It's cross bedding in Sandstone.

The sandstone was formed from huge petrified sand dunes. Each time they migrated, shifted or had more sand blown on them became another layer which is why there are so many colors (the deeper the red the more iron oxide) and layers. Later the petrified dunes were exposed by erosion. The white is a dusting of snow.
