Beautiful!

Great Pic! Are the white colours reflections of the sun in water or is it snow maybe?

Re: Beautiful!

Thanks! I think it's the snow. It was snowing most of the day while we were there. :)

Re: Beautiful!

It's ice in the water! There was also a very large sheet of ice in the same pool!

Re: Love The Color!

Thanks Bo. I was glad to see a little clear water out there of all the shots I took!

Phenomenal!

The pool of water at the base of the wave, and the dusting of snow! What a great combination!

Re: Phenomenal!

Thanks! Although the whole area we photographed this last weekend is called the Wave, people often refer to this little corner as the second wave. It's all just Wave though. :)

Re: Phenomenal!

I think that most folks that get a permit for the North Coyote Buttes Special Permit Area and "The Wave", focus mainly on seeing "The Wave" as seen in the thousand of pictures all over the internet, magazines and TV documentaries. Honestly though, the wave is a fairly large area that encompasses several acres of eerie formations, colorful rocks and striations that resemble waves and swells in the oceans. To go to "The Wave" just to see the famous "Wave Photos" would be a big mistake. First of all only 20 people a day are allowed in this pristine area, secondly it is very difficult at times to achieve one of these permits, so to go to "The Wave" just to see "The Wave" would be a crime. When you get a permit to see "The Wave", be sure to see "The Whole Wave", even if it means covering 100's of acres!

Re: Pretty....

While it's usually a 'dry heat' --- last weekend really was a heck of a storm. You know how they say House Rock Road is impassible when wet? They are almost right! That road is scary when soaked!

The wave

You have outdone yourself Tanya. This photo could be mistaken for a painting. A touch of snow on the waves brings the rocks to life. Very artistic.

Re: The wave

You are sweet Marc! Thank you. They call this spot the Second Wave.... The green looks cool on it I think and yeah.. the snow made it a great day for photos.
