This spectacular bowl is located just north of Mt. Stanley and offers spectacular ski descents when avalanche conditions are prime. Lots of small bowls like this surround Mt. Stanley and the Berthoud Pass area.

Re: Hey..

Yes I did ski there when the avalanche danger was very low and it was amazing. Thanks for all your nice comments recently.

Sick bowl..!!

A truly lovely shot; the ski tracks really make this pic. Reminds me of a similar natural bowl through which I did an off-piste hike in January this year, although it was quite a bit narrower than the one in your pic. Sadly, I didn't have my snowboard so I couldn't leave any tracks of my own. The bowl was near Morzine in the French Alps and led to a tiny local hamlet called Graydon which was totally abandoned due to being under 3ft of snow. There wasn't even a cow or goat; I was the only person for miles around! Oddly enough, the local bar in the refuge was shut, so no beer either! I hiked around the local ski runs to reach the bowl, frequently waist-deep in snow when not on-piste. An awesome experience that will remain with me forever!
