Dirt road drive  Sucess!

This was pretty much a drive up; I drove a stock Honda CR-V almost all of the way up to the peak and walked the last hundred or so yards. On my way up, I saw a sedan that was parked a few miles from the top that definitely wouldn't have been able to make it the last few miles where the road gets rough. A map or GPS is also recommended since the road going up branches off a few times, and there's not much signage in some places.

The lookout tower is active and was open to the public at the time I was there (around 3 pm on Sunday). According to the person at the tower, I was the third visitor that day, and they typically get anywhere from 1-5 visitors a day.

Hmmmm.....  Sucess!

Should I sign this as a successful summit ? I drove most of the way in my Jeep, eventually parked it and walked to the top. It's a pretty cool looking fire tower.

Road to lookout  Sucess!

Drove to the lookout tower. 4x4 is highly recommended, especially last 200 yards. We then hiked to the summit. Very beautiful view. Lookout tower has been closed down.

Group of 4  Sucess!

Too many fires in the Sierras so we went north from Reno and had a nice hike. It was hot and humid.

via the road  Sucess!

We drove all but the last 200 yards with my wife and daughter and had a good visit with the lookout fire watchman.

NE Face  Sucess!

Climbed the NE Face in April 2012. We climbed a snow and rock line nearly direct up the 1100' face to the fire lookout. I would rate the route II 5.0 50deg snow.
Also snowshoed up the class 2 SE ridge in March 2009.
