Route type

This route is often refered to as a climbing route and sometimes a canyoneering route, but it's kind of strange (to me) that it is since there isn't any real climbing nor is there any canyoneering involved (in fact there is no canyon). Personally, I don't know if I'd call it a canyoneering route.

It's more a scrambling route to the top of scenic viewpoint with a few rappels on the return route.

Personally for page type, I would change it to "route" rather than "canyon", but that's just my opinion.

Re: Route type

Yeah, I hear you Scott. It doesn't neatly fit into a category for sure. From my perspective, it is more in line with what a person looking for a canyoneering experience might expect rather than a climb. If I did Tierdrop looking for a "climb," I would be sorely disapointed. I actually found the description on the American Canyoneering Association web site. At any rate, that is why I elected to label it as a canyon.

Permit

Permits are required for climbing and canyoneering in Arches NP. (Available at visitors center)
