Northern HP swing  Sucess!

I convinced my wife that while we were living in OH we "needed" to climb the HPs of WI, MN, and MI. This was the first of the three. There's a little taste of the desert SW here as well... we found "Hayduke Lives" carved into the wooden fire tower!

Whee!  Sucess!

Performed a detour on the way to a convention with some friends to climb this peak. It was a lovely day to be out there, but we felt the trip was a little anti-climactic.

Problem with Timm's Hill  Sucess!

Okay I have a problem with Timm's Hill. I hate the place. Took a long drive down from Mt. Arvon the same day. The whole time the sky is getting darker. There was going to be a thunderstorm. Looks like I would make it in time till the road construction nonsense starts. Then the slow truck drivers. Still I make it into onto the road that leads to the park. And it's blocked off. It's going to rain any minute now. A guy tells me that he can't let me in, cause a track meet is going on now! I can hike up the road a little further down he says. I go down the road, and there's cars everywhere. It's like the damn Packers were playing there or something. He sends me up the wrong road, and I just about finally realize that while I'm walking when two damn dogs charge me! I had nothing on me either! I yell at them to go back, and amazingly they stop like 10 feet away from me. By this tme it is raining slightly. I go back to my car, figure the right way to go, and I hear thunder. I'm like f&^% this, and go to Tomahawk, WI to spend the night. The next morning I go back, and work my way around all the fallen trees on the road, and go to stupid Timm's Hill in a dense fog. I hope a forest fire burns the area. ...Well at least that is how I felt at the time.

Ugly Man-butt :(  Sucess!

I, for some reason, have done this one twice. The best part of this highpoint is the view of the trees, both on top of the tower and on the short hike from the parking lot. This, of course, is truest in the fall when I did it. HOWEVER, a "loving" couple decided to use the tower as their personal love nest the second time I went there, and because they were so, ahem, involved in what they were doing, they did not hear me climb the steps to the top. There is nothing that will ruin a highpoint more than an unexpected view of ugly, white, flabby man-ass. Must have been Packer fans.

Closed road  Sucess!

The .8 mile long last road was closed, and had to snow shoe about 1 mile, (pretty flat mile, not strenous at all). Did this without a flashlight, but a full moon.

I climbed this and 3 other highpoints in a couple days. None of them significant, but they had to be done.

Climbed in the dark with a small light on my key chain. Had problems returning to the parking lot, so I wound up climbing it again twice in the wee hours of the following morning.

Climbed again on November 16, 2007, with Tami Tomski, this time in the daylight. A nice little walk.

Route Climbed: Hiking Trail Date Climbed: August 7 2005  Sucess!

A brisk walk uphill. We arrived at 7:30 when the park was to open and arrived at the summit 2 minutes later. The old metal tower is a far better view and a steel cable will provide saftey every 20 ft or so if you brought your harness. Well worth the drive. Stopped a little cafe (Moose Cafe) in town and had a wonderful home cooked breakfast.
