Solo trip. Drove up from Wauwatosa, WI in the morning. Beautiful day. Camped at Council Grounds State Park that evening before heading up to Mount Arvon.
Another easy HP for the family (#7.) My 13 y.o. son and 11 y.o. daughter and I climbed the radio tower for some awesome views of the Wisconsin countryside. The rest of the family climbed the wooden tower.
Afterward, we stopped in Tomahawk and ate some burgers and cheese curds at Dogs 'n Suds. Very yummy! Then we drove on to Rhinelander for the night where we learned about the legend of the Hodag! The next day we headed for the Michigan high point.
Drove the night before to near the hill summited first thing in the morning. The tower at the top was an absolute blast!!! Headed to Michingan's next.
really misty, but the tamarack were a beautiful yellow.
First of 2 HP's that day. Pretty place and a nice little park.
A beautiful, laid back area, Willl come back and make a day hiking arouund the area.
Climbed both towers
#7 for me. the best part is we climbed with some wonderful friends. the day was beautiful, weather was gorgeous.
Had a fun time seeing the Great NorthWoods of Wisconsin. It's a very scenic area.
First highpoint of many!!!
I love the Midwest in autumn!
There were only about two signs marking the highpoint. One in a small town named Prentice, and the other leading into the county park. Easy hike after we had found it, though.
Hit Timms Hill on our way to Maine. Also hit Mt. Arvon in Michigan later that day.
Another ok high point - nice towers and pretty good pie at the hill of beans
Fun little trip over the holiday weekend, but the clouds and fog made for a no view from the tower. Had the place to myself.
In 2 days I got my first 2 HPs. Not the greatest time of year to visit N. Wisconsin but succesful. This is my home state HP.
Half-day outing from Minneapolis
My ninth state highpoint. Very short but I enjoyed climbing both of the towers. Much nicer views from the steel one because you are over the tree line. Very nice people at the Mountain Village, be sure to try the carmel collision ice cream!
Vanessa and I drove up from Barrington Hills, IL to tag our 4th of my 49 state high points and her 39. For good measure, we stopped by Rib Mountain (1940 feet, and previously identified as Wisconsin's highpoint) on the way home.
