Bagged   Sucess!

Up and down from the parking lot. That first km on Gardisky Lake trail is such a bitch. It also took a while to find the use trail going to the summit, but the task was completed with a smile. For who cares, the use trail starts right where the lake trail comes out of the trees and flattens out. Following the West ridge right from the creek that drains from the lake is the easiest way to go. Going closer to the lake will only make the hike up the slope much harder.

From Dore Cliff  Sucess!

Thought I might be able to softly jog from one peak to the other, but NOOOO too junky with loose stones. Check in the box for these two peaks...not very interesting or fun at all...just a work-out.

No Yoga on Tioga  Sucess!

I was too enthralled by the views to do any stretching up there.

Scramble and Scree  Sucess!

Long and leisurely with views of the high country of Yosemite. Beautiful climb, but the scree and scramble could be annoying. Worthwhile.

posthole  Sucess!

After a typical pre-memorial day storm ... great views to clouds and rain over the cathedral range.

Northwest Ridge  Sucess!

Gardisky TH. Up the Gardisky Lake Trail to maybe 100 yards shy of the lake. Started straight up toward the peak. About 150 yards from the top, came across a top secret use trail. On the descent,I followed this trail down as it stays pretty true to the NW ridge. This is the way to go, you just have to find it. Could be an old trail as there are signs along most of the trail to the lake of an older trail that was replaced by the current one.

Windy summit!  Sucess!

Climbed the standard route from Gardisky Lake. Fresh snow and extremely high winds added a challenge to this otherwise strait forward hike. Mark Z stopped a couple hundred feet short of the summit because of conditions.

Climbed this peak as part of a 3-fer outing weekend along with Tuolumne Peak and Johnson Peak.

Bored with Fishing  Sucess!

My girl friend and her parents were trout fishing at the lake below, and I decided to go climb this. Lots of loose scree, but nothing out of the ordinary. Great views.

On my way back from the White Mountains for some exercise to break up the drive. View was fantastic of snow covered peaks from the recent storm that blew through.

from Gardisly Lake  Sucess!

Came up again, for I didn't get to explore nor stay long on the summit last time - the weather was tricky and there were light rain and hail on and off...

Got to take a very good look of Ellery Lake and Dana including the North Rib and the Plateau this time. Continued onto Dore Cliff/Tioga Crest afterwards. No company - just me, the crisp air, the fantastic view, and my SPOT.

Getting acclimated for Whitney  Sucess!

Going to Whitney in a couple of days so this looked like the right combination of ease of access and elevation. Fantastic views...if you visit the Lake first There is no trail up, just a class1/2 scramble. Spent a couple hours on top reading then found some switchbacks that take you down the northwest ridge, and connects to the main trail west of the Lake (closer to trailhead). Less than 2.5 hours round trip, and amazing views.

A short little hike to finish off a week-long trip of backpacking/peak-bagging. Quite a lovely view of the Mono Lake basin.
