Tocllaraju high camp

We camped on the glacier, at around 5200m, just above the more usual moraine camp. Our primary reason for that was to make the push to the summit a little bit shorter, but when I saw moraine camp, I was glad to move on too. It was scenic all right, but a little bit dirty. And there was no running water anyway, so you would have to melt snow. We had actually planned to go 5300m, but the altitude was getting to my climbing partner, so we stopped one slope earlier. It was a beautiful place, with views all around. The mountain on the left is Tocllaraju - the summit is further left. The dark mountain on the right is Palcaraju. 29 June 2011.
