I wondered when this mountain would go up! Nice pictures--do you have any from the summit?
Thanks Vernon. I have only 2 summit pictures. One is the photo of Tweedy and I have another of what I believe is Baldy Mountain off to the south. I will e-mail you the pictures.
Looks pretty interesting. What kind of bears are on the slopes?
From what I understand, there would only be black bears. Grizzlies are to the north in Glacier and the Rocky Mountain Front and to the southwest as you near Yellowstone. md
Funny, the name of the mountain made me think it might be in California (torrey pines and all that). What a nice surprise to find out it was in Montana. Nice page.
Nice page. I've heard good things about this mountain, and Tweedy too.
Very nice page!
Thanks for posting, nice page. How did the ridge look that connects Torrey to Tweedy? I've heard it is a technical and fun ridge.
I had heard the same and so took a good look at the route. What I saw were some rock towers or walls that would need to be ascended going from Tweedy to Torrey. Or descended going from Torrey to Tweedy.
That section actually faced Tweedy and it was hard to get a real good look at what one would be in for since I was on the wrong peak to evaluate it. This crux lies closer to Torrey than Tweedy on the ridge.
Other than that, I did not see anything else that looked like a serious obstacle.
Submitted today in 5 hours from Dinner Station, but no climbers register. Next climber bring up a notebook, ziplock bag and pencil. Somebody distroyed the register box. I might contact Forest Service to install new register box.
