Route Climbed: Kelso Ridge Date Climbed: July 21, 2004  Sucess!

Kelso ridge is an awesome route. Most of it is class 2 but the class 3 scrambling is fun. Some exposure (especially when youre right above the Dead Dog Couloir. Fun alternative, and the summit is more rewarding.

Route Climbed: Kelso ridge Date Climbed: July 9 2004  Sucess!

We started hiking about 8:00am. I was tired but moving along OK. Bill and I split up and went towards the ridge. The ridge was fun but the route finding was a little difficult. We got to the summit around 11:20 or so. I took off and met the students at the saddle. We hiked down and did some glissading. That was a blast. We got back to the car around 1:15. Bill and I went to the Red Ram saloon in George Town.

Route Climbed: Kelso Ridge / Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: July 2002  Sucess!

Torreys Peak just looks wicked! But it sure is a fun hike! The Kelso Ridge solo was a blast, but the Grays Peak trail with my dogs was the best. Milo the mountain dog and Abe the hard charger bagged both Grays and Torreys.

Route Climbed: South Slopes Date Climbed: July 6, 2004  Sucess!

Hiked both Grays and Torreys, the wind had a nasty bite, but the clear skies allowed amazing views. A lot of Mtn. Goats along the trail, passed 52 hikers on the way down and one stray dog following a group of hikers to the top.

Route Climbed: Kelso Ridge from Stevens Gulch TH Date Climbed: August 21, 1983  Sucess!

This was another climb w/ the CMC, but I enjoyed the ridge route so much that I took friends onto it several years later again. This is the beautiful skyline that many people see on their way up I-70, and it is a classic, just like Gerry Roach says.

Route Climbed: Loveland Pass Date Climbed: January 29, 2005  Sucess!

Beautiful day, despite a forecast for snow. Fairly still and on the warmish side (for January) for most of the hike. After Grizzly Peak, it started lightly snowing and became a bit windy, but wasn't bad. Ice axe was a must, crampons were definitely a plus. An incredible and most enjoyable day!

Route Climbed: Normal Route up Grays Date Climbed: October 2003  Sucess!

Summited Grays first, then over to Torreys. The day couldn't have been better! These two mountains are close to Denver, and offer hikers a relatively easy chance to feel the air at 14,000 feet.

Two fun 14ers!

Route Climbed: loveland pass Date Climbed: 6/20/04  Sucess!

Climbed grizzly peak enroute as well as two twelvers enroute, great day not another hiker till the summit. And only a couple of people then. Packed too much gear should have left the crampons and ice axe in the car, there was not nearly the amount of snow I had anticipated on. But well worth the extra mileage. Started off at 5:00 am and made it back to the car at 4:00pm,very long day.

Did this w/ Grays, no visability and cold blowing snow, snow field blocked one trail necessitating almost reclimbing gray's again to get down, fun though.

Route Climbed: Horseshoe Basin Date Climbed: August 28, 2004  Sucess!

Had a great hike summiting both Gray's Peak and Torrey's Peak from the Horseshoe Basin trailhead which is a little more difficult but a lot more remote than the busy trailhead on the I-70 side of the peaks.

My 6th Fourteener. My friend Logan and I hiked Torreys, starting at 2 AM so we would see the sunrise from the summit. Awesome view!!! Made it to the summit just before the sun rose. Had it all to ourselves, until about half way down the mountain, when we started passing other hikers. Counted 143 in all (plus a dozen or so dogs), with more streaming up the dirt road as we exited; definitely glad to beat the crowds. Saw some mountain goats also!
