look out for the headless climber
This is a great roller coaster hike, from Loveland pass you can summit 3 13,000ft points including Grizzly Peak. We had a secound truck parked at Stevens Gulch, its a little much to reverse this route.
first on summit - had good 6" of snow overnight 2 hours by headlamp - made for a nice hike. Came via Grays. Did not make it up T last time. Got em' both this time
14er #3 in as many days. Started from the TH at 15.09. Summited at 17.07, left the top at 17.21, & back down to the car by 18.52. Kelso's a beautiful ridge, & a delightful climb! Snow made for some really nice views. Interesting to think back on when I was there with friends (Zathan & Mark) in college- seems so long ago in the meantime... Beautiful day to be in the Rockies (also with my mom & dog down below)!
Solo up Kelso...what a Friday. Headed over to Grays.
My second 14er--about 45 minutes after my 1st 14er!
Climbed the Dead Dog Col. with Tim and Eric, then hit Grays.
a short trip over from grays, well worth it. great to be able to hit two 14ers in the same day.
Very fun but wish I could of done the Kelso Ridge instead of just the regular route. Looking forward to coming here in the winter or spring to try other routes on it and to also bag Gray's Peak.
Though shorter by a tad than its neighbor, I think Torreys is far more exciting and the views are better. And, maybe, just maybe, a little less traffic. I was up by 8AM after having summited Grays, didn't linger long as the cloud deck was closing in rapidly (and yet the masses continued upwards).
Kelso ridge was very fun!!!
I decided to give my legs a rest after this one. This was my 7th 14er summit this week. Heading home now.
This was the first time I ascended this mountain NOT via the kelso ridge. It was good for training, not too terribly exciting, but beautiful. great day, got the clients from my tx facility to come out and enjoy it.
This was my first 14er ever and the first of three this day. I headed over to Grays and then drove over and did Bierstadt.
Great day with other SP members.
great climb, great day
Came over after summiting Grays. Best part of the whole day was glissading down from the saddle!
Great conditions with lot of people, continued to Grays.
Climbed Dead Dog with a whole crew from SP. Snow was good in the morning, corned up nicely by 9am for a sweet ski descent of the couloir. Great meeting everyone and a stellar group. The road into Stevens Gulch is fairly washed out as of 6-7-08, and I wouldn't recommend it for a low clearance vehicle(8"+ is fine).
Perfect weather, perfect partner and alot of work. I couldn't make it all the way, but what should I expect when fighting a cold, out of shape and an 8 month old that's still not sleeping through the night! I estimate we stopped at 13,500. This was a day of firsts: first time skiing a 14er, skiing in June, using crampons and climbing a couloir with skis on my pack. Had a blast despite my conditions. I will be back!
