Clayton Lake Trailhead

Area of Access:

The Clayton Lake Trailhead is best used to access the northern portions of the Jewel Basin.

Getting There:

Travel south along the Westside road of Hungry Horse Reservoir from Hungry Horse passing over Hungry Horse Dam to the end of the pavement (16 miles) and continue until reaching the Wheeler Creek road (FS #1633). Turn right and drive to the trailhead.

Trails Access from Clayton Lake Trailhead:

Trail # 420 with access to Clayton Lake and Wildcat Mountain.

Trail #55 is a connecting spur which leads to access for Blackfoot Lake, Wildcat Lake and the peaks associated with those lakes.
