Cima Grande - normal route
Quite nice but a bit dull route to the summit. Few nice climbing places. Descended by few rappels.
Good weather, few other parties on the route.

Zeitsprung

Cima Grande in the fog
Good climb on solid but heavily used rock. Standing on top of the peak is in fact an unbeatable feeling. Too bad that it was very foggy and the views limited.

Cima Grande
Kessler and I spent the previous day resting and travelling by bus and train to Toblach. This morning we met Andreas in the morning and drove to Cima Grande for the climb of one of the most famous peaks in the Alps. We climbed the south face. It was a pretty good climb, but it wasn't nearly as fun as First Sella Tower since it has a lot of loose rocks on the benches between the good pitches. The weather and views were fantastic though.
We reached the beautiful summit and enjoyed a good lunch. We took a different route down. It was not so fun and was rather loose and a bit dangerous.

Seemed tough at first since I was out of my element (Alpine style mountaineer here). Got a bit lost on it but ended up finishing...eventually.

Normal route of Cima Grande
Not so difficult from the technical point of view but not easy to follow the right way, there are many "ometti", sometimes too many, especially during the descent it's easy to wrong the route creating big problems.
Route Climbed: Normal way to the Cima Grande Date Climbed: Aug 1997
Easy way (no more than III grade UIAA). The way is not so easy to follow. The view while climbing is not exceptional. No particular exposure. It took me about 3 hours to reach the summit. The view from the top is great. In particular the view on Cima Piccola
