True Oxlip

True Oxlip

True Oxlip (Primula elatior) is a perennial that can grow from 10 to 30 cm in height. It can be found in wet areas of all Polish forests that cover mountain slopes. It can be also found in the meadows up to the elevation of 2400 meters. It blooms from March to May. Flowers appear on leafless stems. They do not have a fragrance. Oxlip looks similar to closely related Primula Veris, but its flowers are much larger. The Low Beskid - Rymanow Zdroj - Wilcza Meadow - April 8, 2008.
