Nice hike.  Sucess!

A great hike and it was nice to see so many people out enjoying this awesome place. Also it seems to me there were more Canadians than Yanks.

Highpoint #20  Sucess!

Even though there were wind gusts up to 80mph that day, Mother Nature calmed down in time for us to summit. We even had some sunshine. What great way to summit and see the Observatory! We saw an avalanche but no one was fatally injured. Check the avalanche report before you go.

With Derek, 5 years old  Sucess!

My daughter, Emily (12), and youngest son, Derek (5), joined me in a three day "expedition" to climb Mt. Washington via Tuckerman's ravine. This was an exciting adventure for the children. Please see my trip report.

Gorgeous Fall Colors  Sucess!

Absolutely beautiful climb up to Mt. Washington. I got a late start so I camped at the Hermit Lake Shelters. I was able to leave my camping gear there and summit early the next day. This trail is a must-do, especially in the fall.

Harder than I though  Sucess!

This is one of the first big winter ascent I did, and I will always remember it was much harder than I thought. It didn't help hucking up alpine ski gear, and almost didn't have the legs to ski down.

Fun. Needed crampons for some icy sections. Wind was kind to us.

Nice route  Sucess!

Remnants of Hurricane Ike blasting me with 60-80mph winds and gusting over 100. Killed my summit hopes when I got to the ridge, but a great route, and I can't wait to try it again.

Great trail but pretty crowded (possibly due to the July 4th holiday weekend). Beautiful views along the entire trail.

Tuckerman Ravine Trail to the headwall then ice climb over the lip  Sucess!

The day was gorgeous and the climbing was great for one of my first ice leads. I recommend trying a lead here b/c the step like formations of the flow allow for easy screw placements for someone just starting to lead ice. The alpine setting is the only drawback in case of injury
