Route Description
This route heads up and/or down the East Rim wall of the canyon. The trailhead is at the end of the Overlook Trail. The trail is a little steep but well maintained. It passes along nearly vertical cliffs on the canyon wall and descends down into the gorge, where it meets the Pine Creek Trail at Pine Creek. If you do this trail as an out and back trip, the round trip distance is 3 miles, with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail is Class 2 because of its' steep sections along the rim. Views are wonderful the entire trip and you'll get to see a good portion of the canyon from top to bottom.
