went up to watch fireworks all the way from Cheyenne to Denver
Got blown off longs the day prior, so I trekked up here to see how the weather was....Just about the same. Loved it!
We hit the trail at 4:45 am so we'd have "perfect" light on Long's Peak. We did and it was great.
Was a beautiful clear day for a climb...little windy at the top but great views of Longs/Meeker. Scrambled to both peaks, were the only ones scrambling the taller of the two for some reason. Followed this by hiking to Ouzel Falls nearby...which were magnificent. Great day of hiking!
The sisters offered a nice view of Longs, etc., but the downscramble to the saddle with the peak (unnamed?) to the south and the scramble up to its summit was more enjoyable, more hands-on (rock) and offered a better view. Made the sisters, themselves, look like bland ol' humps in the ground.
Great views, easy hike, two summits, and marmots.
I've climbed Twin Sisters 6 or 7 times. I love it. It provides the best views of the Longs-Meeker-Lady Washington massif.
Left TH at 12:45, returned at 3:45 in a downpour. Tagged both summits. Saw a bunch of unprepared people headed up in an approaching storm.
summited both twin sisters. the southern one has a nice fin for great, short section of scrambling. lots of fun, you should try this one when you can't get out for a big trip.
A nice hike up to mark the beginning of the season.
A nice hike up to the top of both summits. Not too crowded and has nice views of Longs Peak and Mt. Meeker.
This peak is fun and easy to do in the winter. The snow was hard packed so I didn't need my snowshoes. I was surprised to bump into quite a few people this day. Although this puppy isn't very high, the summit was windy and cold.
Total ascents = 10. One of the better conditioning hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Finally did both summits after years of just hiking to the 11,413 point to the west of the actual 11,428 summit. Then we scooted over to the southern summit which is even better!
Not so sure on date...April 2005ish on a bluebird day, solo. A pleasant warmer-upper for winter ski-itized or hibernatized legs. Very icy at this time of year, bring something for traction! I had Yaktrax which did the trick. (can I get some points for making up new words? :)
Nice, easy hike. Great views of Meeker-Longs-Lady Washington.
An early morning start with a summit around 11:00am.
Fairly easy trail with nice views of Long's and the front range once you reach the ridge. Only a few people we encountered.
Beautiful hike. Was not able to traverse to "South Sister" due to lightning.
My first Colorado summit! I've been hooked ever since!
