First Ascent East Ridge
Don Jensen was a climbing guide at the Palisade School of Mountaineering when he and I (an 18 year old camp cook) took the day off to do the east ridge. It was the high point of my climbing career, despite future climbs such as Whitney East Butt in January 1975 etc. Jensen was a true inspiration to so many of us!

East Ridge
Day 6 of the Sierra Challenge, a surprisingly tricky peak with two very tough summit blocks. Trip Report

E ridge
Climbed the east summit block from the south, but chickened out one move short on the west one -- I didn't want to fall onto the pile of rubble.

Sierra Challenge Peak
The route finding on this peak isn't as easy as one would think. Just following the ridge doesn't quite cut it. Adam and I were in the lead and topped out the ridge onto a point that had a register with the name "Ramu Horn". Very close by were two pillars we thought were Two Eagle. We waited for Bob, who concluded the summit to be still 15 mins further along the ridge. We went over there and found the real summit. The two summit blocks are really close in height. If you want to actually stand on them, they require about a 5.8 move.
