Thank you Wuebbels!
after 7 summits, next goal!
Headed to Denver for a wedding. Took a little side trip.
Started with Kings Peak in 2005 and have been hooked since. I try to get to at least one highpoint a year if possible.
Swung by and bagged Mt. Sunflower in Kansas on the way to see my daughter in C. Springs-hoping to reach a couple of more this year.
Something about this page seems real familiar. Hmmm. Anyway, on June 21, 2015, I summited Denali (my 50th State Highpoint), nearly 22 years after attaining my first highpoint on New York's Mount Marcy on July 20, 1993. Lots of miles, lots of memories and lots of defending my hobby to those who didn't get it.
I have so far Completed,
NH, MA, VT, MO, AR, KS, CO, IN, OH, and TN.
I am starting to write about my highpoints on my blog, feel free to stop by and read about it!
I finished all 50 atop Mount McKinley on June 28, 2013. my partner on the final climb was Tom Choate.
See my Trip Report of that title describing nearly 24 years of state highpointing.
Only Guadalupe so far. All 50 would be quite a feat!
hopefully try for some more next year...
Rainier, Hood, Whitney, Elbert, Borah
I don't plan to finish this list, only want the good ones.
Climbed my first 14,'er and Colorado highpoint for my 40th birthday. Definitely a beautiful and confidence building hike.
Mt. Greylock in MA was my first highpoint, followed by RI and CT. Attempted Mt. Katahdin in ME but thunderstorms and torrential rain forced us to turn around a mile from the peak.
Only bagged 3 state highpoints thus far:
California: Mount Whitney
Massachusetts: Mount Greylock
South Dakota: Harney Peak
Started with my home state of RI in 2008 and will hopefully someday finish.
I have been working on them for years and hope to get them all done before I die.
I got Mauna Kea (Hawaii), Elbert (Colorado), Wheeler Peak (New Mexico) and Guadalupe Peak (Texas).
