Lately, I've been doing some peaks without snow that I know would be better with snow. This is one. While the 300+ feet of scrambling from the saddle to the summit is fun, the trip from upper Len Shoemaker basin to the saddle would've been much nicer with snow.
Start of a traverse to Pyramid. This traverse is tough with snow. Trip report.
Rachael and I climbed this on a gorgeous summer day. Basically a dry route now (small snow fields in the valley to cross, not a problem). Ridge was fun, slog up to it less so, but not the worst I have done. We spent almost 2 hours on the summit because it was such a nice day up high, too hot in the valley to come back down! Plus the Sky Pilot on the summit was beautiful.
Traversed from Thunder & Lightning Pyramids, descended standard route.
With "Ligtning Pyramid" & "Thunder Pyramid"
Started the day with UN 13,631 and traversed all the way to Pyramid Peak. Decent scrambling and great views all around. With Kiefer and John.
Kind of a surprise! Wasn't sure what to expect. Some decent scrambling from the ridge/saddle but alas, too short.
Killer views from the summit.
Nice route into a beautiful area. Not as hard as I thought it would be- I suppose knowing the route into the upper basin helps!
