Ran this in a day
This is an easy one, so i made it a little more difficult. Ran the route from the start to Wetterhorn, back to back with Wet for day 2. Since there was no snow or need for crampons/ice ax, just went up light and came back fast. Up in 3.5 hours, ascending West Face via my own route, to connect with Uncompaghre Standard Route right before summit. Gorgeous crossing the Matterhorn basin, and saw barely no one. The San Juans have great climbing.

Great verticality & panorama
Easy really to be a 14er but then that's Colorado. I love the Ouray area, really nice. Wouldn't mind owning a get-away there.
The mountain features a relatively flat top with lots of room to take in an incredible view; on and I truly love the sheer walls.

Fun even in rainstorm
Rainstorm (no lightning or thunder) was an extra challenge, but really loved this hike and the views when the clouds cleared!

Standard Route
Today Charlie and I climbed 14,308 ft. Uncompahgre Peak in the San Juan Range. We drove in his Jeep Wrangler on a rugged 4WD road up to the upper trailhead and camped. We hit the Nellie Creek trail around 5:30AM and made the summit around 8:45AM. Made it back to the trailhead around 11:30AM. Approx. 8 miles round trip. Had a great time on a great peak! 14er #28.

TH above Nellie Creek Road obstacle course
#1 7-4-15 What an exciting way to celebrate our nation's birth: seas of Columbine, relaxing snowfields, sweeping vistas and priceless friends. I have bin reichlich gesegnet.
Beautiful day, beautiful high alpine terrain with flowers blooming everywhere! Made it about 1/2 up the 4WD road to have a ~10 mile hike with ~3300 vert. Easy and perfect...
Hard to spell, but not to climb... but it was quite a long approach from the campsite by Matterhorn Creek. But still shorter than the approach from Nellie Creek TH.
Matterhorn Creek trail offered 12.8 miles of an easy 3,900' rise over run-out. Grassy trail has good views of nearby San Juan peaks ...kinda looks like your in the Swiss-Alps.

Lovely hike
Approximate date. Beautiful climb start to finish.
Almost had a heart attack on the way down when a hawk waited till I was about two feet away to fly off. I had not seen it and it really startled me!

Sweet Views
Climbed it the day after a snow storm rolled through, some deep snow in places but the snow made the views even better.

Foggy Morning
Two-day overnighter starting at the beginning of the 4WD road. Camped just below treeline and was on the summit by 7:45a the following morning. Well worth the effort, despite limited views on the summit. My first true 14er!!
