Uneva Peak
Easy and straightforward. Approached from Vail Pass using the Corral Creek Trail and linked into a well worn climbers trail to the peak. All in all quick and easy access for the Gore Range.

From Vail Pass
Nice little hike from the Vail Pass pull-off. Sunny and hot with a high pressure system. Still, plenty of stream water for the dog to drink. Nice wildflowers and amazing views!

Uneva Peak and Ridgeline
My first Colorado peak! This was my fourth hike of the week during my Colorado vacation. We parked on the exit ramp at Vail Pass (exit 190 rest area off of I-70) and took the Corral Creek trail up through beautiful meadows. The trail petered out and we followed the ridge up from the south, up Point 12380, and then on to the true summit. We saw some ptarmigan up at the summit; so cool! Temps were cool with a breeze, so we booked it down to a few more points along the ridge, including Peak 12089. We went down from there, met back up with the trail, and then the sun came back out on the way down. A truly beautiful day!

Tourist Visit
On a 4 day vacation in Colorado from California, hitting as many 14ers as possible....After hiking Elbert earlier in the day I had reservations in Frisco for the "Decalibron" hike the following day. But the Elbert hike was easier than planned and I was in Frisco, checked into the hotel by 3:30. That's way too much time to let pass without bagging another peak. So I looked over the maps and saw Uneva, a P1K about 15 minutes away so decided to go for it. Went up from Vail pass, trail to about 11,700 or so, then up grassy slopes to the ridge south of Uneva where I picked up a use trail, up and over a false summit to the actual peak. A broken glass jar probably held a summit register at one point, no only glass shards and a pen remain. Fun hike!

BC scouting for next year
With Michelle from VP rest area. Great area for BC skiing. I may be the only nudnik that does not already know that since I am a recent transplant to Colorado. The bowls on the north side slopes are full of snow still.

windy winter
hiked sneva and uneva during a significant wind storm on a chilly early march day. the climbing wasn't overly challenging yet the constant ups and downs really took a toll on our bodies by the end of the day.
we did it overnight for winter training and skied down. Easy but fun mtn

bc ski
skinned up from vail pass skied off the summit down ridge and out to frisco.. bad ass! killa snow, awesome tree skiing ..couldnt have asked for a better day in the bc..
Started at the bottom of Vail Pass, Copper side, and hiked up the Gore Range Trail to Uneva Pass, summited "Sneva" to the east of the pass and then up the south ridge of Uneva. Longer way to climb this peak, but scenic hike with some nice wildflower meadows and tarns along the way, plus an extra peak.

From Vail Pass
I went with a group who were primarily interested in seeing wild flowers. I had once tried to be proficient in their identities so this was all very helpful. Wonderful views from the top of the Gore Range.

Climbed Uneva after work, started around 6pm and managed to summit just as the sun was setting. What an incredible sunset and alpenglow! Of course we came down in the dark, but that's what headlamps are for, right?
