The Seven Devils are in the far distance to the right. There are many excellent campsites on several lakes around Bruin Mountain. July 2006

Dead Trees

Are those trees dead because of pine beetles or what?

They were killed by fire in 1994. That year nearly 400,000 acres burned, largely centered on these mountains. This year the area to the east and southeast burned over 300,000 acres. There isn't much forest left in this vicinity.
