Upper Muley Twist  Sucess!

Hiked this loop route a couple years ago with some friends. Just noticed there was a page for it so......check. Of course this is an incredibly excellent hike that everyone should want to do some day. The truth is, while I had a great time and everything, there's something about hiking in a national park that just doesn't do it for me compared to some of the real wild places out there. I guess there must be something wrong with me....

Don't miss the cinnabuns!  Sucess!

Mindblowing variety. Incredible lollypop loop that cannot be beat and is worth the 1.5 hour drive from Fruita (3 hours round trip - a long yet worthwhile day). We camped however at the primitive Cedar campground (sandy, unprotected, yet had complete solitude), adventurous.

Muley Twist  Sucess!

Amazing geology. A Top Ten Colorado Plateau hike. I would suggest for canyoneers to do the rim trail first then descend the canyon, dropping into the slot by rope or hike/climb up the slot once the canyon trail intersects the slot. Many side slots can also be explored.

Stryke Valley Overlook  Sucess!

Hiked from the 2WD trailhead along the road, then up to Stryke Valley Overlook. Continued on to an impressive series of arches where the trail lead us atop the Waterpocket Fold. Some of the most astounding views I've ever experienced. Hiked along the Fold for a couple of miles before following an easy route into the canyon bottom. Unfortunately, the trail we followed spit us out just after the narrows section of Upper Muley. Great company (hiked with a group of 8) and spectacular weather made for one of the best day hikes I could every hope to enjoy!

Do the Twist (Upper Muley Twist)  Sucess!

An incrediblly scenic, and wonderful hike. More arches than I could believe possible. I went up the slot canyon by the fifth major arch all the way to its head, and had a stunning view of the other side of the canyon. I brought lots of water and was glad, because the hike back along the rim seemed a lot longer than the hike in..

Upper Muley  Sucess!

Hiked Upper Muley Twist looking for slot canyons and arches. Very scenic. I enjoyed it better than Lower Muley Twist.

Very long loop combining Lower and Upper Muley Twist and Halls Creek. I love Capitol Reef

Upper Muley Twist  Sucess!

I remember doing this as a loop. We hiked to all the arches in the canyon and then followed the rim which overlooks the waterpocket fold.
