Colorado National Monument 100 Year Celebration!

May 21, 2011 Colorado National Monument Celebrates its 100 year history!!! John Otto's National Park ambitions lead him to build winding trails and erect European style "via feratta" iron peg and chop step climbing routes. He wanted the park to commemorate the independent spirit and patriotic heroes like Washington, Franklin and Jefferson. Few names of the towers and canyons remain on maps. The 450 foot Independence Monument Tower is the most recognized symbol from the Monument's many impressive towers. There is a revived interest in changing the "Monument" to a National Park...
