I like it!

What is the elevation of that obelisk? and is that box on the pedestal a summit register box? I think this same mountaintop obelisk was in a Clint Eastwood movie..I'll ask my brother, he'll know for sure. Clint was laying down at its base snoozing, with his trademark cowboy hat tipped over his face for glare protection. Some village lady preambulated up there to offer him a breakfast of cooked scrambled eggs, noodles and sausage links on rye toast. At first he was brushed that she disturbed him, pulling a gun on her. Then he calmed down when the smell off royal jelly on rye toast wafted over to him. It was quite a scene! Hope you see it sometime. It will bring back memories of your climb. 10/10 for the picture.

This obelisk is at the top of Guadalupe Peak, which is 8,749', the tallest point in Texas. Yes, that ammo can is the summit register box. If you think of the movie, let me know. I've seen a bunch of Clint Eastwood movies but am not sure about the one you are referring to.
