Re: Greetings ...He/she's the marmot that lives on Mt Oxford (Collegiate Peaks, Colorado). My daughter and I and our dog summited about noon and the marmot was out sunning and defending the highest rock. While holding the dog, who thought that he should be defending the highest rock, I snapped this pic with an Olympus SP-500 UZ. The 10X optical zoom makes pics like these très simple.

Re: Greetings ...This camera uses an xD picture card; 2GB versions selling on amazon today at <$30, so I don't consider that difficult to find. Seriously, how often do you need to buy a memory card? I bought one when I bought the camera, and have never needed another, but I'm not a typical consumer (no cell phone, no GPS, no Ipod, no CD in my car, err... I do have a car). Hiking for me is getting away from it all - take only photos, leave only footprints. The doggie is a mixed breed ~50% yellow lab and the rest who knows - pit bull? coyote? Anyway, he was adopted as a 4-month old puppy from a Mexican playa and won the lottery, so to speak, since joining our hiking family seven years ago. He loves to hike 20-30 miles a week and is a great companion.

And, there's not too many limbs out in the
desert, unless you find a Mesquite tree.
What do you mean by Mexican playa? Do you
live in the general vicinity of Tucson?
