A Little About Me
This is a photo of me and my 12 year old son Jonathan at Glacier Basin on Mt. Rainier August 2002. This was our third annual trip (site 4 is our spot!). We took up backpacking in 2000 and started climbing in 2001.
We live by the mantra that "Reaching the summit is optional. Returning safely back home is mandatory" (Ed Viesters as quoted in "Touching My Father's Soul"). Good thing. His mother would kill me if I came back home from a climb without him.
We have had such fun together. This year I taught him how to play poker! Last year we made linguini with clam sauce on a backpacking stove - good but too messy!
We started slow and each year as a team we try to take on bigger challenges -going higher and higher. We are fortunate to live in an area with such beautiful mountains and challenges of all types. We take them one by one and look forward to sharing our experiences with everyone on SP.
