Vârful Bucura Dumbravă

Overview

Vârful Bucura Dumbravă also known as Vârful Ocolit is the second highest peak in Bucegi Mountains, one of 14 peaks in Romania exceeding the amount 2500 meters. It`s situated just a step toward south  of Omu - the highest in Bucegi. The name Bucura Dumbravă is a nickname of Stephanie (Fanny) Seculici, writer, who was an enthusiast mountain tours. Another name of peak - "Ocolit" means passby. Some argue that animals miss the summit because it is a source of energy. Many people who were atop say they felt powerful energy or heard strange sounds (I do not). This is the reason why its a the goal of people passionate about esoteric, occult or Buddhist energy. Apparently there was also unexplained disappearances of people. Others argue that animals simply it is easier to get around up than it is to climb.

Getting There

We can get there from Sinaia, Busteni or Bran

Route

Its an easy hike. The fastest option is using Babele cable car from Busteni and then walk toward north, the same trail as to Omu. If we dont want use cable car - trail from Busteni through Valea Cerbului. Its more than 1500 meters ascent. Another option - from Bran - ascant similiar like from Bucegi. Third option is take a car from private agency, who can take us to south side of Bucegi and walk toward Babele i then, like from Babele cable car station.

Red Tape

Its a national park, restriction like most parks in Europe. We must be careful about: pasteure dogs and bears. Bucegi is the most "bear`s" place in Europe. More

Camping

At nearby summit Omu is the highest situated mountain hut in Carpathian Mountains - Cabana Omu. Also it can be Cabana Babele at summit of Babele. In Bucegi mountains you can camp anywhere.
