Fine Vintage PhotoHa ha - it was just a couple of years after I first crossed the Iron Curtain (which was about to fall), went to a shop selling climbing gear and bought 2 (two) meters of rope and a sleeping mat (I was a high school teacher then and earned about 20 dollars per month). :)

Re: Fine Vintage PhotoWell my father liked mountains a lot and hiked something not too much but my uncle he climb a lot in our mountains when he was young. Even my grandfather (I didnt met him, he died pretty young) he done many crazy things, he liked adventure and travels. Well my uncle took me a few times with all the family but I start seriously by my self. Maybe is genetic????????????

Re: Fine Vintage PhotoThis is a really nice picture.
Nobody in my family were climbers, or even
very serious hikers. I was the black sheep of
my family.
I guess I could have "went places," if I
had migrated to the East, but I also had
very little money when I was growing up.
Great picture, Andreea !!!

nice picIt's so nice to hear your story about how you started. I didn't start climbing intil I was 19 but the seeds were sown when father took me to Europe and the Alps when I was 11. I still remember wanting to go to the top even then. My father was not athletic or outdoorsy at all, all the outdoor things I did on my own. Sounds like you caught the bug early and are still at it.
