How such a prominent peak in such a spectacular area has only three summit log entries is beyond me. Perks of living in NM, I suppose. Climbed via Bull Creek on a clear fall day. Long day trip from ABQ.

Bull Creek
Hiked up the Bull Creek Trail and then up the northeast ridge. Could see a herd of elk on the south ridge of Virsylvia Peak and another herd on Latir Mesa. Went on to summit Latir and then camp below Heart Lake.

Bull Creek, sort of
Went straight up the southeast ridge instead of following the trail to the Cabresto/Venado saddle, since it was completely buried in slush. Continued on to Latir and back via Heart Lake on a clear but windy day. Trip report.
Hiked to the summit of Venado Peak from Cabresto Lake via Bull Creek Route. After summiting Venado continued to Latir Peak. Nice hike, beautiful sunny day, great views.

Via Bull Creek RouteHiked to the summit of Venado Peak from Cabresto Lake via Bull Creek Route. After summiting Venado continued to Latir Peak. Nice hike, beautiful sunny day, great views.
