Verdi + Ladybug
Took Stampede Dam Road - Henness Pass Road - Verdi Peak Road. We had hoped to drive up a few miles on Verdi Peak Road, but the road is barricaded and closed about 2 miles past the junction with Henness Pass Road, leaving about 5 1/2 miles to go to the summit. We quickly saw why the road was closed, there were massive ruts, 4 feet deep in places, making the road too narrow for anything but OHVs.
And were there OHV's....we counted 23 such vehicles that passed us up on our round trip hike. Thankfully it was quite windy, and we didn't have any dust issues from the vehicles. The hike itself is boring, being that it is on a rocky road the whole way up. The views were fantastic, however. I'm not sure when a good time to hike this peak would be, but certainly not mid October weekends...

Hiked most of the way from Henness Pass, tagged Ladybug and Granite after visiting the lookout atop Verdi. Trip Report.

Drove up to the summit area of Verdi with Al Pine in the Jeep and did some target shootin with the .22
Excellent views of Reno-Sparks.

Verdi and Ladybug
Hiked up the road after a late May snowstorm. The air was clean and fresh and the views were great.

Ran both from the primary 2WD route, starting 200 yards from intersection with Stampede Dam Road and Henness Pass Road. Took just over 3 hours, covering about 13 miles.
