A medium difficulty via ferrata located in the Sella group. The path starts directly from a dedicated parking (m 1956) along the road which connects Colfosco (Val Badia) with Gardena Pass. After a short path, there is a first short section of ferrata on a secondary rocky spur, then another longer (but again brief) section of flat/up-and-down path, and finally the start of the proper via ferrata, which should theorically last about two hours. The ferrata climbs close or on the Torre Exner (m 2494) almost up to its summit, then a quite vertiginous iron boardwalk connetcts the Torre Exner to the small plateau where the ferrata ends. In a few minutes one reaches the Franco Cavazza al Pisciadù mountain hut (m 2585).
As it is maybe one of the most notorious ferrate in the Dolomites, the Tridentina is veeery crowded, which can be quite annoying; in August one has to expect to literally queue, and it takes 3-4 hours from the start to the mountain hut.
17 August 2011.
