View of Kamieniec Castle's Chapel and Wall

Kamieniec Castle complex (built in the 14th century) consisted of the upper and lower castles. Since the 16th century both castles were divided by the wall and had different owners. In the 17th century, one of the castles was the property of the Firlej family, and the other of the Skotnicki family. The history of the quarrel between these two families was an inspiration for the Polish writer Aleksander Fredro to create a great comedy entitled "The Revenge".
