Approach

Any approach towards the Kearsarge Pass trail, such as Onion Valley Road out of Independence, will do. The climb begins right off the pass heading sttraight up the ridge to the north.

Route Description

The climb begins right off of Kearsarge Pass. Just head up the ridge to the north; the climb is straightforward class 2 - just keep walking up the ridge. You will have to pass two false summits, the first of which is obviously false, but the second can be a dissapointment when you reach it. You can traverse over them, or just below to the left (west). When you reach the base of the summit you will have to do some class 3/4 climbing to the top (it is very easy), and if you feel adventurous you can walk out on a little ledge above where the east face drops off and climb onto the summit block.

Essential Gear

When there is snow present an ice ax is very helpfull, and crampons maybe necessary for iced over sections.

Miscellaneous Info

Route Comment

The easiest route up the summit block is reached from the North side.
